Silence, a handmade artist’s book with a poem by Jacqueline Woodson engraved in the pages. The poem is from the book Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson. It reads:
Handmade book for the family of Joan Kuyper Farver containing over 45 letters written by current and former students expressing their gratitude for receiving a Rolscreen scholarship. Joan Kuyper Farver established the scholarship in the 1960’s and her family continues to fund it to this day. The book was commissioned by Central College and given to the Kuyper Farver family. It was created in the art studios at Central College, printed digitally on Nideggen paper and hand stitched by Mathew R. Kelly.
This is a collection of the logo and illustrations I created for the podcast Mid Americana: Stories from a Changing Midwest. The podcast was developed by two of my colleagues, Josh Dolezal and Brian Campbell, here at Central College. It was an energizing collaboration as we each shared what we felt was at the core of the interviews while developing the illustrations. Many thanks Josh and Brian! I am looking forward to next season.
